A massive shout out to this super-star for an incredible achievement!
Paul travelled through remote parts of North Queensland and the Northern Territory, spending 10 nights camping under the stars.
What makes it even more impressive is the fact that Paul isn’t a regular motorbike rider and was the oldest rider on the trip by around 20 years.
It was something he’d always wanted to do.
Just over two years ago, Paul’s daughters encouraged him to start training at Body Blitzer.
At the time, he was dealing with aches and pains and wanted to improve his flexibility and move better. He was pretty hesitant about starting and worried about whether he’d be able to keep up.
The first few months weren’t easy, but he kept coming back.
Over time, Paul got stronger and fitter. His mobility and balance improved, and he became much more confident in what his body could do.
He’s also had some serious setbacks along the way.
Paul has survived two bouts of cancer, including a melanoma on his right foot that kept him away from normal training for around six months. He kept doing his physio and eventually worked his way back into training.
Fast forward to today and he’s completed an adventure he’d always wanted to do.
Afterwards, Paul said something that really stood out:
“If I wasn’t going to the gym, I wouldn’t have been able to do it.”
You might not want to ride a dirt bike 3,600km across Australia.
But what do you still want your body to be capable of at 60, 70 or even 80?
That’s why staying strong and active as we get older matters.
It’s not just about what you can do in the gym. It’s about being able to keep doing the things you want to do in life.
Well done, Paul. What an incredible effort!
